18,000 Nude in Mexico Tunick breaks record

Naked volunteers pose in Mexico City


American photographer Spencer Tunick has broken his own record for the number of nude models snapped posing artistically in a single image.

About 18,000 volunteers formed the foetal position in Mexico City's Zocalo Square for Tunick's photo shoot - a project that took the artist five years to gain permission for.

The previous record was held by Tunick's 2003 photo shoot in Barcelona, which featured 7,000 Spanish models.

He has also photographed scores of nudes in Australia, Belgium, France, Britain, Canada and the United States, and is clear about his treatment of the human body
