France family member dies in plane crash

Dr. Bruce Kennedy, husband of International Speedway Corporation president and NASCAR vice president Lesa France Kennedy, was killed in a plane crash Tuesday morning in Sanford, Fla.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:40 a.m., NASCAR said in a statement.

Kennedy, a plastic surgeon and licensed pilot, was attempting to make an emergency landing when the Cessna 310 he was piloting dived into a Sanford neighborhood, setting two houses on fire.
