Stone Goes to War with Bush on Iraq

Stone Goes to War with Bush on Iraq

Oliver Stone gets busy with anti-war TV ad campaign

Stone to take Bush on directly

Oliver Stone is taking on an active new role in the anti-Iraq war movement with plans to direct an emotionally powerful TV ad showing Iraq vets and their families do not all support the war.

Stone has partnered with MoveOn.org and Votevets.org to direct a TV commercial featuring Iraq war veterans aimed at bringing home the troops. As a veteran on the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart during his service, Stone has always used his creative voice to reflect upon social and political issues as in the movies ÒNixon,Ó and ÒJFK,Ó however with this new commercial Stone is taking an active role in influencing the present.

In the face of BushÕs controversial decision to surge in Iraq by adding another 28,000 troops, Stone will give Iraq veterans a voice of dissent. ÒWe have leaders in Washington who say theyÕre Õsupporting our troopsÕ Ñ but the people who suffer most from their policies are the troops themselves,Ó Stone said in a statement Thursday.
